spice it up

This organic Assam black tea with Saigon cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves and pink peppercorns is on another level of delicious. In the 19s, Saigon cinnamon was one of the finest spices on the market. But then came the Vietnam War, and exports ground to a halt. Now it’s comeback time. Try this dark, sweet perfection as a spicy iced tea, Viet-style, with sweetened condensed milk.

What makes it great

  • In India, “chai” just means “tea” and “masala” means “spiced” – so the real name for a spiced tea is a “masala chai.”
  • Potent Saigon Cinnamon has the most cinnamon oil of any spice.

In recent months, I have not been able to find it neither in-store nor online. I have also not been able to determine after multiple inquiries whether it has been discontinued or not. Fortunately, while I was in-store recently, a kind employee suggested I try Organic Saigon Chai as an alternative. I was very hesitant at first, believing that it couldn&rsquo;t possibly replace my long time favourite chai. However, I was very pleased to discover that, with a small amount of condensed milk, it is simply delicious. I look forward to having a cup each day and it is even an alternative some mornings to my favourite cup of coffee.</span> <div class="bvseo-pubdate">Date published: 2023-06-27</div> <meta itemprop="datePublished" content="2023-06-27" /> </div> <div class="bvseo-review" itemprop="review" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Review" data-reviewid="226419782"> <span itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Rating"> Rated <span itemprop="ratingValue">5</span> out of <span itemprop="bestRating">5</span> </span> by <span itemprop="author" itemtype="https://schema.org/Person" itemscope><span itemprop="name">Jtinney</span></span> from <span itemprop="name">My search is over</span> <span itemprop="description">I have been looking for the perfect chai tea, and with so much trial and error, I have found it! So my 250 grams of tea came in 5 packages. Such wastefulness is just sad and totally unnecessary -&gt; hence the 3 stars for a tea I would have otherwise rated 5 stars. While it might reflect DT's commitment to speed, I'd be happy to receive my order a day+ later if that would eliminate the surplus packaging. And yes, this is a general observation and also concerns all other flavours/teas. :(</span> <div class="bvseo-pubdate">Date published: 2023-06-26</div> <meta itemprop="datePublished" content="2023-06-26" /> </div> <div class="bvseo-review" itemprop="review" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Review" data-reviewid="220215812"> <span itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Rating"> Rated <span itemprop="ratingValue">5</span> out of <span itemprop="bestRating">5</span> </span> by <span itemprop="author" itemtype="https://schema.org/Person" itemscope><span itemprop="name">Bree plus three</span></span> from <span itemprop="name">organic saigon chai</span> <span itemprop="description">one of my favorite afternoon treats. it's a bit spicier than other chais David's offers, but that's what i was looking for. love the color and rich taste of it!</span> <div class="bvseo-pubdate">Date published: 2019-05-23</div> <meta itemprop="datePublished" content="2019-05-23" /> </div> <div class="bvseo-review" itemprop="review" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Review" data-reviewid="237235259"> <span itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Rating"> Rated <span itemprop="ratingValue">2</span> out of <span itemprop="bestRating">5</span> </span> by <span itemprop="author" itemtype="https://schema.org/Person" itemscope><span itemprop="name">yes i like iced tea</span></span> from <span itemprop="name">favourite chai</span> <span itemprop="description">saigon chai is my favourite simple chai. i bought it two years ago for the first time and only ran out this year, although ive noticed there&rsquo;s a lot more cinnamon in it now. it&rsquo;s still good, but the cinnamon is quite overwhelming. i have it with brown sugar and a little bit of milk</span> <div class="bvseo-pubdate">Date published: 2020-09-24</div> <meta itemprop="datePublished" content="2020-09-24" /> </div> <div class="bvseo-review" itemprop="review" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Review" data-reviewid="225519490"> <span itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Rating"> Rated <span itemprop="ratingValue">3</span> out of <span itemprop="bestRating">5</span> </span> by <span itemprop="author" itemtype="https://schema.org/Person" itemscope><span itemprop="name">Erin S</span></span> from <span itemprop="name">Could be a bit stronger, quite mild flavour.</span> <span itemprop="description">Not as spicy as I was hoping, but still has a nice flavour.
