This is a traditional Earl Grey without being "in your face" with the flavor. As with all David's Teas this is supurb in quality and very smooth without a bite. I love to use this tea as a base for my eveing after-dinner drink - Blueberry Tea. Blueberry you ask? Combine with Southern Comfort and Ameretto and you have a bit of delicious in a cup. Here in the northwest, where heavy winter rain and winds blow this Blueberry Tea using Earl Grey is like "being in front of the fire with a warm blanket" kind of feeling. Let the storm blow, I'm having a Blueberry Tea with my book.

Too expensive for fake earl grey
Just got this stuff in. I should have looked closer when ordering. This tea uses flavoring rather than the real stuff. The real stuff will have either bergamot or bergamot oil as an ingredient. "Natural bergamot flavoring" is not a sign of a quality tea. At [at time of review] $43 per pound, this tea costs noticeably more than most others that do have the real deal. It's not the worst tasting thing I've had, to be fair, but it doesn't come close to what it should be. I would return the unopened pouches, but "We do not currently offer online returns on loose leaf tea" .... which makes the return policy a bit irrelevant, doesn't it? No returns on the primary product? If you've been buying this, and are convinced that this is a wonderful earl grey, do yourself a favor. Find a tea that has either bergamot or bergamot oil, and give it a try. You'll immediately taste how far short this comes.

I was excited to try this earl grey and was hoping for a strong classic bergamot flavor, but this tea is just bitter and has virtually no earl grey taste at all to me :( The dry leaves don't even have that smell I was hoping for. I'm sad this didn't taste good!

Bitter and disappointing
unfortunately very tricky to brew properly. It says 200F degrees for 3-5 minutes, but that is a great way to get tea so bitter it's undrinkable. I use 190F water for no more than 2mins and it is lovely. But you have to sit and watch the timer, it gets bitter so fast. I love black tea and Earl Grey in particular, but prefer other brands for Earl Grey that give a smoother cup more consistently.

So good!
Purchased this after I tried the Cream of Earl Grey from David. My husband did not like the vanilla flavor and I noted a strong licorice taste. My husband requested I get a normal Earl Grey tea for him to try but I was skeptical he would actually like it.
Let me tell you, this tea is VERY good. We add a hint of honey to it to mellow it out a bit and it's our new favorite hot tea. We will definitely be buying this again when we run out.
I did notice a cut in the foil package when I got it. At first I thought my husband did it when opening the package, but the tissue paper was unscathed. I'm guessing it happened when it arrived at the NY distribution center? It was no big deal because I have some old Teavana tins that I transferred it to and it did not taste stale or anything.

I love this Earl Grey tea. I drink it absolutely every morning with a little bit of oat milk. It's tasty, strongly flavored and not too bitter. I'm glad it's high-caffeine because that's just what I need in the morning. I will definitely re-purchase this tea.
