The old ones the basket with the ball completely screwed open. Not only does this one not do that, you can see the threads that look like it should screw open and water get stuck in there! It is not a problem to clean you basically run water over it, it comes apart into three pieces. The matcha and tea pieces are also compatible with my lock top travel mugs from David&rsquo;s tea. I&rsquo;m very happy with how easy it is to make matcha this way even though I rarely use it to go, I usually just drink it immediately at home.
