Hi there, teahound! 🐶 There is a protruding bump on the inner bottom rim of the lid that will connect with the body of the pot and secure them together. Though this won't 100% lock the lid in place so we suggest holding it down when pouring your tea to be extra safe. 😊

Hi Ml42! No, this cannot safely be used on a glasstop/electric range or any stovetop. The Tomi Teapot is designed to steep your tea (with water boiled from a kettle) and then serve it in style. 💙
