DIY iced tea latte in 4 (easy peasy) steps

Tea time's all the time, as far as we're concerned; we’d hook ourselves up to a permanent tea drip if we could swing it.

When it comes to iced tea lattes, we've got you covered. Made with a base of flavourful tea that’s poured over ice and topped with a splash of milk, this beverage has all the hydrating benefits of an iced tea and the creamy decadence of a latte. Let’s get started!

What you’ll
need

Step 1

Measure your tea

Measure your favourite iced tea latte like a pro by using the DavidsTea Perfect Spoon – a stainless steel spoon designed to help measure your loose leaf tea correctly. Just scoop 4 Perfect Spoons (approx. 10 teaspoons) of your loose leaf tea into the DavidsTea 16 oz Steeper with the lid open.

Pro tip: Steer clear of teas that contain hibiscus.
The acidity in hibiscus makes milk curdle. We recommend going for bold teas that are fruity, decadent, sweet or spicy so that the flavours come through the ice and milk. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Step 2

Pour in hot water

With your loose leaf ready to go, it’s now time to fill your Steeper with 4 oz of hot water from a kettle. Water temperature is one of the most important variables in steeping a consistently delicious cup of tea. Steep it too hot, and you risk burning the leaves. Steep it too cold, and you’ll be left with a mild tasting iced latte. So how hot should your water be? To make sure you get the best results, follow this simple steeping guide.

The secret to getting a flavourful iced latte
Steep a lot of tea in a little bit of water so the flavours become strong and concentrated. This will help them shine through the ice and rich milk for a perfectly balanced iced tea latte.

Step 3

Let it steep

This is where the magic happens.
Here’s where you want to set a timer to give your tea the time it needs to release all of its wonderful flavours and aromas.

Don’t forget to give it a little stir.
Make sure all of the leaves in your Steeper are either submerged or at least wet (we don’t want any dry floating tea leaves on the top). This will ensure that each tea leaf has enough heat to help extract it’s amazing flavours, so you get a great tasting cup, every time.

Step 4

Dispense tea over ice & add milk

Rest the Steeper right on top of a 16 oz mug 2/3 filled with ice and watch as your infused tea pours out like magic through the easy-release valve. The filter will strain your tea directly into your ice-filled cup while keeping the tea leaves in the infuser. And when you’re done, the valve closes automatically.

Top with cold milk for a creamy finish.
Just pour cold milk of your choosing directly into your mug – no need to froth. You can use skinny, full fat, soy, almond, coconut… basically whatever milk makes your taste buds happy. Sometimes tea can take on a different flavour, depending on the type of milk you choose. Remember: Have fun and experiment!
