what’s a traditional tea?
When it comes to tea, we’re known for crafting exciting new blends using unexpected ingredients. But we also adore teas steeped in centuries-old traditions. So it should come as no surprise that what we call "traditional" includes both premium pure teas and exciting new twists on old faves.
Traditionally, "tea" refers to any infusion with Camellia sinensis — an evergreen shrub from Asia — as its only ingredient. Green tea, black tea, white tea, oolong and pu’erh all come from the same antioxidant-rich plant. We love the natural simplicity of pure teas like Japanese Sencha.
But we don't stop there. We also include single-ingredient herbal infusions like organic Rooibos in this category, as well as lightly scented teas like Butterfly Jasmine. We have a whole line of traditional teas with an extra DAVIDsTEA twist — like Cream of Earl Grey, our vanilla spin on the classic bergamot black tea. We’re all about making the classics feel new — even if that just means sourcing the best Nepal Black Tea we can get our hands on.

sun moon black
Grown on the edge of Taiwan’s Sun Moon Lake, this full-bodied black tea is sweet and lively, with a light touch of honey and distinctive minty finish.
We love that this tea is rolled up just like an adorable little snail shell. But its clean taste and just-there notes of peppery arugula are what really hooked us.
Just try to resist this fresh and lively white tea from Fujian Province. Lightly scented with jasmine blossoms, it’s pure perfection.
