<span itemprop="description">I had high expectations for this teapot, but I have to concur with other reviews before mine that it's not perfect - therefore, I can't recommend or not recommend it, it might just be one of those YMMV type situations. I wanted a glass teapot so I could enjoy the color of my tea as it steeps, and this fits the bill nicely. It is a bit smaller, is great for 1 to 2 people with smaller yunomi style teacups to share.
Product arrived packaged safely in a box, with all the pieces cushioned inside to avoid breakage.
What I liked about it:
- Classic teapot shape, a bit more elegant than the Tritan steeper, pretty to look at.
- Spout did not drip when I poured, even when filled to top.
- Can watch tea steep/change color as it brews.
- Can remove infuser basket when tea is done brewing.
- Came with a fine mesh filter (great for even fine teas like rooibos).
- Had the option to use the squiggly spout filter thing (great for oolong, as it will need more room to expand.
That being said, there are some negatives:
- There are 3 metal "clips" that make the infuser sit snug in the teapot. They are NOT soldered properly at all. Mine all popped off while I was rinsing (not washing) the infuser under hot water. The infuser still sits fine in the teapot, but it rattles a bit.
- I could not, for the life of me, remove the metal spiral/squiggly spout filter. So I just left it in when cleaning. This may or may not bother you.
- If you don't use the metal infuser (like in the case of oolong) then the lid is really loose, you have to be really careful to hold it down while pouring so you don't break the lid, which leads me to my next point...
- You need to treat this (and any borosilicate glass teaware) more gently than ceramic teaware - it's very delicate, and even small taps against metal (for example, accidentally against the sink while cleaning) can cause hairline fractures. Since the lid is loose, holding it while pouring is a must - but be careful, the lid, including the handle portion, does get hot.
- The glass was rather thin, if you want to take your time drinking tea, you may want to put a tea cozy over it to keep your tea hot.

<span itemprop="description">The teapot is very thin and feels fragile. It is not double walled which would help with durability and keeping the tea warm. I love the idea of leaving the tea leaves loose in the pot to brew....the trouble is that without the diffuser the teapot lid is very loose and could fall off if you don't hold it so the diffuser has to be on the pot even when the loose leaves are in the water...</span>

First of all I am a huge David’s Tea fan. My daughter gifted me with this tea pot for Christmas. On its third use, the spout broke off. Very disappointing. When I told my daughter, she told me the ball on the top of her teapot had broken off. I think this product is defective. Im sticking with my plastic David’s Tea steeper.</span>

It happens the same with. Apparently, there is no replacemente lid even if you want to buy one. We decided to print a 3D lid that fits great. In terms of cost, it is not very advantageous but at least I didnt have to discard my new teapot and buy a brad new one. (If you are in Toronto we printed with the makers bean... they have the project done so it might be cheaper or easier to print one for you).
