I used to carefully clean it by hand and then lay it on a towel to air dry, but I was worried about the whisk losing it's shape over time so I got the whisk holder to help me dry it properly while still retaining it's shape. Mine just arrived and I can confirm that it indeed does not fit the whisk - it is too tall for the bristles to wrap around the curve.
