White tea at its finest, Bai Hao Yin Zhen is revered as one of the top teas in China. Our silver needle white tea uses only the first leaves and silvery, unopened buds of the tea plant, plucked by hand during the April harvest. You’ll love this tea’s pure, delicate taste and sweet complexity, not to mention the underlying grassy notes no tea lover can resist.
What makes it great
White tea is the least processed tea, meaning all the skin-loving antioxidants found in the leaf aren't broken down.
Comes from a small family-owned garden that has been making tea for over 5 generations.
To make this tea, the buds are plucked by hand in early April, when the mornings are still cold but it doesn’t rain every day.

So pleasant and endearing - like an old Friend.
HOLY COW! I was so surprised by the flavour of this tea - I am such a fan of this. I've tried a couple of silver needle-teas before, but this one has such a creamy, mellow flavour that is so relaxing and warm in the morning. If I could brew this all day, every day, I would, however it is definitely on the pricier side and I reserve it for once a day. This tea is such a hidden gem; I highly recommend you to try it if you are open to something that is plain. This would be such a great base for adding fruit to it, or making this extra strong for a milk tea. I would classify this as a "tea next door", something your lovely neighbour would offer you to drink when you need someone to talk to.

Awesome Tea!
This tea is wonderful. It has a subtle soft floral and crisp/fresh flavour. I love starting my mornings with it, it has a nice dose of caffeine that really perks you up but is a soft easy flavour to digest early in the mornings as it is a white tea. I drink mine black and use my perfect spoon - though I find using 1 and 1/2 to 2 scoops works best as the needles are quite large and don't fit exactly into the spoon like some of the finer teas do. My only issue is the price point. It's sooooo expensive. Especially compared to the other teas offered. But I find the quality is really good so for me it is worth it. If you like a smooth easy to drink tea that will pick you up in the morning this is the tea for you!

Grassy Sweetness
I love this tea for when I crave a little natural sweetness (not sugary sweet, but a sweet, grassy, hay note) no bitterness or astringency. Good quality, but a bit expensive, but it is a very light tea by volume (a 50g bag fills the tea tins nicely). I can get 2-3 infusions, I start off with the water at about 80°C for the first infusion, at 3 minutes, and increase the temperature by 5°C and brew time by 2 minutes for each subsequent infusion.
As with all DT traditional blends, I wish they would offer a wider variety and different expressions, rather than all the stevia-sweetened, flavored infusions of mediocre quality.
It would also greatly help if for your new subscription program, you can select straight/traditional teas only, to not only learn more about tea, but to try a wider range! It would be awesome to have a box that concentrates on the different regions of the world, for example - Taiwan, Japan, Darjeeling, Korea, Nepal - or by type.

The first steep of this tea was really good. I used a glazed kyusu and it came out with a light sweetness. Subsequent steeps were less pleasant and tasted bitter, which was surprising to me. In the future I'll step it at a lower temperature to avoid bitterness and see if it helps maintain the sweetness. Overall it was good.

Health benefits from white tea for Liver Disease
This white tea is supposed to be great for my health condition. I have been diagnosed with a Liver condition called Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and the high caffeine in this tea is supposed to help with detox among other things to help reverse this condition. NAFLD is the most common liver disease in North America .... most people don't even know they have it until its too late & 30% of the population has it. It can cause scaring and cirrhosis/Cancer of the liver & possible death if diet lifestyle and weight loss is not achieved.
They say to drink coffee for the high caffeine benefit, but I have never liked coffee. So we did our research and found your tea that is one of the highest levels of caffeine !
I have a huge cabinet of your teas and love them all... but im hoping making lifestyle changes that I get better as this can be reversed if caught early. I hope more people will use this review to be aware & prevent this silent disease.
Thank you so much for the speedy delivery ... take care !

It is very mild. The mildest tea I have of any oolong, green, or black variety I have. The caffeine doesn't affect me much, but it may be a concern for others. I need my coffee in the morning, but this is a lovely afternoon and digestif tea. Given your comment, you would probably be better off with a stronger flavoured tea - a nice oolong, chai, or jasmine green. Tetley always works for me when I need a tea-pick-me-up.
