Mixer Tea
As a straight up tea it was a little bit TOO smoky. I found a much better use of it instead is to take the tea, MIX IT with another softer rounder tea and settled down the taste/smell of smoke. Grinding it down into almost a powder/herb and removing the small sticks left behind I used Lapsang to rub on roasts, potatoes and to infuse with other means to use it. Actually the biggest REASON I buy it is for a spicy rub for meats and potatoes. Just cause it's tea doesn't mean that it's only got ONE use.

Delightful smokey smell with a smooth flavour
Has a strong smokey smell both dry and brewed. A subtle sweetness and full-bodied flavour without any strong bitterness. On my first brew, I used 1 spoon (~0.05g) tea with 12 oz of 95*C water and decanted at 3, 5, and 7 minutes. I found 3 minutes to be too subdued for my liking, 5 and 7 were both excellent, with 7 having a strong colour and full flavour without bitterness. I like deep teas so, in the future, I will likely increase the tea amount and brew at 5-7 minutes.

I first came across this tea 4-5 years ago, and it's been discontinued since then. I love the smokey smell - like a camp fire - and the flavour is deep and comforting, especially in the winter. Mixing in orange peels with the tea is a great too!

I love this tea. When I’d found out that it was discontinued I was devastated.
I’d tried about 5 different places since David’s discounted theirs and none was the same.
This tea with honey and whole milk, makes it takes like roasted marshmallows over the camp fire. Super delicious

Not my cup of tea
I heard about the 'campfire tea' a couple of years ago and have been wanting to try it ever since. So I was super excited when this tea arrived at my doorstep. However, as soon as I opened the package I was overwhelmed by the very strong smokey odor (to the point that it was nauseating). I still brewed a cup hoping it would taste better than it smelled. But I just couldn't drink it. The smell and taste was just way too smokey. This was my first time trying a Lapsang Souchong tea, so I can't compare it to other brands. Maybe they all taste like this. It's definitely not a tea I'll be buying again.

Steeping Burnt Plastic
Was looking to try new black teas and added this to my cart. When it arrived I excitedly flipped on the kettle and opened the package. I was hit hard with a smell of burnt plastic, my eyes watered and I coughed a sputtered for a good 5 minutes after. My husband asked if something was burning in the kitchen, he likened the smell to a total loss house fire. The "smoky" description does not articulate the intensity of this tea. The packaging should include a clear warning with a more accurate taste description that reads: Prepare yourself, you're about to steep the ashes of a nuclear explosion.
