Needless to say, I was astounded. Upon opening the bag, I was greeted with a Woodsy, Earthy, slightly floral aroma. I didn't want to judge a book by its cover, so lets get into tasting! 1st Infusion: |250 ml of 80c water poured over 2g for 1:40| As it began to infuse, this tea immediately began giving its color to the water, as well as the lovely health benefits we all know and love from green tea. After 1 minute and 40 seconds, I was left with a light, amber brown liquor. The tea itself had the same floral notes as the bag had to my nose, with the addition of perhaps some morning toast. Upon tasting it, I was greeted by many lovely notes. It tasted like a roasted green tea, but aside from the earthy and woodsy notes, I detected floral notes as well. This really took me by surprise. Upon further tasting, I definitely picked up some Buttery, Umami notes. Think, Buttered toast. Acorns. The caffeine was subdued, however I did get a lovely, relaxing, homey Theanine glow. Not as high as with an unroasted, but still very noticeable. 2nd Infusion: I left this one steep for a little over 2 minutes in 300ml of water, because I thought i'd cut loose with this infusion. The liquor was a nice, slightly darker amber brown, The nose was more earthy now, with hints of coffee. Upon tasting it, I was greeted with earthy, coffee bean notes, yet the floral notes were much more prominent now. This infusion much like the last had very little astringency to it, which makes it a lovely evening tea. This is an excellent tea that is enjoyable to wind the day down with. It left me with a calm, tranquil headspace. This would also be a lovely tea for the fall months, as its very hearty and inviting. It is true. It has great umami flavour. It&rsquo;s very smooth and not bitter at all no matter how strong you make it. It does remind me of eating sushi. It is a really good tea. Will buy more. Pleasantly surprised! A smokey/ earthy tea that isn't malodorous, low in caffeine that isn't over bearing. Way better than golden dragon pur'eh tea! Will be purchasing more soon. Unlike most green teas, this one did not get bitter or astringent! I didn't particularly care about this one, and of the offerings in my set, this one was the one that wasn't for me. I realize this is purely a &quot;Me thing&quot; and has nothing to do with the tea itself.
