Medium Caffeine
20-39 mg per cup
This one-year aged pu’erh tea from China’s Yunnan Province is unlike anything else in our collection. Sheng pu’erh is a “raw” tea, meaning it continues to mature and improve with age. Brew a cup today and it’ll be delightfully nutty and earthy, with notes of sweet floral honey and a cooling camphor finish. Try it again in a year or two and it’ll be sweeter and mellower. That is, if you can wait that long…
What makes it great
- Our raw pu’erh has enough body and depth to show its one-year resting period, while maintaining some liveliness.
- Like fine wine, this Sheng pu’erh is long-fermented and only gets better with age.
- Pu’erh tea has been used for thousands of years in China to aid digestion and boost metabolism.
- Limited edition.

Decent entry-level sheng
I find this sheng on par with the quality budget shengs I’ve ordered direct from China. It’s quite mellow for only a year old and has the complex flavor a young sheng should. However steeping for 4+ minutes without a rinse is too bitter for my tastes. I gave it a 10 second rinse and steeped it for 2 minutes (increasing by a minute for subsequent steepings) using at least 7g for a 16oz mug, and found it perfect. This also gives me more than three good steepings, so using extra leaf lasts all afternoon.

So tasty! This is my kind of tea. I love the taste the smell. Went to David's to buy some ice tea, they told me I could get 50g of tea for free, I really wanted to try the new pu'erh tea anyway. Everything worked out so great. I have a new favorite now which I will be getting more of! It has a restaurant green tea feel which is what I have been craving and looking for. Thank you! For continuing to add more teas for us to try. New ways of making tea. I love this company and everything it stands for. Thank you :D

Not a fan
I was not a fan of this tea. I brewed it gongfu style and it just had really strong aromas of cigarette smoke or smokers' fingers, giving it a pretty bad flavour. It got a little better with each steep, though the flavour didn't change much. I didn't hate it, but it didn't have a lot of depth to it. They recommend tasting it in a couple of years at which point deeper flavours should develop, like notes of dark honey, so I will keep the rest of the tea in anticipation of that.
