This rare oolong tea from China’s Wuyi Mountains is velvety smooth and creamy, with a subtle hint of orchid. It’s said that it came about when the moon fell in love with a comet. The comet passed her by, as comets will do. The moon cried milky tears, which chilled the tea fields, withering the leaves and giving them a delicate creaminess. This milky oolong tea has been a rare luxury ever since.

opened my eyes to oolong
Trying to kick coffee, I bought several teas outside of my usual green sencha range to add variety. I've avoided oolongs because those I'd previously drunk had tasted just like mild black teas to me. This one has more complex--and distinctly different from "grocery-store" black--taste. Although the additives (which I guess are to make this taste like an expensive milk oolong?) leave a hint of a not pleasant aftertaste, I enjoyed this tea enough to want to explore other oolongs, especially true milk oolongs. Now that I'm finished my 50 grams, I even miss this one (PS I've ended my daily 3 large coffee habit coffee for 5 months--thank you, tea variety).

We call this "Cheese Tea." Not good.
Bleah. Okay, so I bought this Milk Oolong on the reviews that raved over its delicious milky flavour. I got it and it tastes like milky cheese. The description of the "when the moon fell in love with a comet" was so romantic that I just wanted to love this tea (good job marketers), but unfortunately it is like hot, sour-milk water. Now looking at the product description, it says it has "natural and artificial milk flavouring." Real milk oolong isn't supposed to be flavoured; it's supposed to come from the quality of the tea leaves. So, yeah. No.

Not Mad at Milky
This was my first dip into the world of oolong, and I was certainly surprised at the flavor. I wasn't sure how to feel about it at first, but I've grown to love it. Like many others, I don't the milk flavoring does this tea any favors, but I find that adding a bit of milk or cream and a touch of honey will solve that problem. This tea tastes like.. Well, it tastes like a leaf. But the most delicious leaf you can imagine. I think if you enjoy the grassy taste of matcha, you'll enjoy this tea's leafy nature. It's a wonderful way to wake up on a cold snowy day :)

Reminiscent of sour milk.
Maybe something that's supposed to taste like milk would never be for me, but I was shocked by how strange and unpleasant it tasted. Not gag-worthy, but not something I WANTED to drink. You might like it with sugar or honey if you like cheesecake?
I've never had a version of this without additives, so I don't know what to expect when it comes to those, but I do think it's important to note that this contains "natural and artificial milk flavouring" (I somehow missed this when I ordered), so you're not getting a special experience of naturally milky-tasting tea leaves.

Awesome Oolong
I love the taste of this particular oolong tea. I not a huge fan of oolong. But love this milk oolong as there is an added fragrance to the tea that make it smoother to drink....must be the milk. I don’t usually drink oolong as it makes my stomach gassy for some reason. But this milk oolong doesn’t do that to my stomach. Just ordered another 200g. I will recommend this tea.

I don't understand some of the people who complain this tea tastes artificial or the one who said it was "cheesy". This tea is a great morning tea. I drink it black and it has a great smooth finish without being overly milky. I guess this would be the same drinking a straight oolong tea with a drop or two of milk but you can taste that the oolong itself is of quality.

I tried this the first time from a “24 Days” advent. I loved it and have gotten multiple bags since. This tea is way better tasting than “grocery store” oolongs, and for the price I’m happy with it. Are there better real milk oolongs? Sure, but this one for the price is well worth it in my opinion. I like to steep this tea for 3 minutes and I always re-steep at least once sometimes more, so I get the same great flavour for multiple cups of tea.
