Our Genmaicha tea is a cozy blend of premium sencha green tea with toasted & popped rice. This tradition of adding rice to green tea dates back centuries; as the colder months started to settle in, rice was added to the last tea harvest in fall to ensure there was enough to sip all winter. The warm character of toasted rice brings a subtle nutty sweetness to your cup, balancing perfectly with the fresh vegetal flavour of sencha.
What makes it great:
- Smooth premium blend of sencha green tea comes from Miyazaki and Kagoshima, Japan.
- Use hotter temperature water to highlight the toasty rice flavour or lower temperature water to focus on the vegetal sencha tea base.

<span itemprop="description">I was disappointed with this particular tea. I am used to a more balanced mix of toasted rice and sencha or gyokuro leaves. As a result, I cannot help finding this genmaicha tasteless. I don't know if my batch got unlucky, but you can barely see the green tea in the mix I received, it's almost all rice.</span>
