I don’t have a matcha whisk and I found minimal clumping turning it into a paste and slowly adding water that way mixing with a spoon or fork , creamy texture and flavour , I like it a lot better than the grand cru which tastes kind of grassy but in a good way? Lol the grand cru was harder to mix without a whisk and clumpier, I’m sure had I had the right equipment to mix both matcha they’d be even better , however , I’m glad I splurged on the ceremonial matcha it really is the best in my opinion, will be buying more and recommending this matcha for sure

Disappointed
Bought this from the David's Tea location at the Eaton Centre, when I tried it at home, the powder formed hard chunks of matcha (I've never had this happen before), the matcha didn't dissolve despite whisking it for a long time, tried different methods still the same results, all the matcha just sunk to the bottom in hard balls that I couldn't break apart. Waste of $30, very disappointed, the quality is not the same as matcha I've bought from David's Tea in the past.

Not very flavourful and too clumpy
I was excited when I saw this because I thought the price was good for the amount you get. However, when I tried this matcha I found it to be VERY mild in flavour. I tried making it again and added double the amount of matcha powder, but I still felt like I couldn't taste anything. Maybe it's just the type of matcha or something, but I was kind of disappointed. Other types of matcha I've tried have a much stronger taste. Maybe it's just personal preference, but I didn't like it. I also found it to be very clumpy compared to other matchas I've tried.

It takes practice, but here’s the gist: -heat water to about 170 degrees. Let the kettle sit fir 10 mins or so after boiling. -warm up the matcha bowl by pouring some hot water in it. Let it sit a few seconds and then pour it out and dry the bowl well. -add the ceremonial matcha to the bottom of the bowl -pour about a cup or less of hot water into the bowl. -whisk vigorously in an up and down direction. With practice, this will become faster and it will create a thick froth. Be sure to use a proper bamboo chasan/whisk. If you switch directions or go in circles, the froth will disappear. -very slowly add more hot water, while continuing to whisk vigorously. Again, this takes practice -add cream or milk, slowly. Sometimes I give it a final whisk, sometimes I slowly add the cream to make heart shaped in the froth... -It takes practice. I had the whole lockdown in the spring to figure it out. -This is by no means even close to how a Japanese Tea Ceremony would prepare matcha— that art is beyond me :)
