It has only ever been washed by hand, and used for hot tea. Today I made tea as usual, with water from my kettle, put the lid on and left it on the table for a few minutes. When I picked it up to drink the lid fell off. The lid is warped and it can no longer close properly. Thankfully it spilled away from me or I would be in the hospital with burns right now. It appears that the lid warped at the seam (see picture). I own several of these tumblers, this rose gold colour is my favourite. No issues with the straw but don&rsquo;t use it with hot tea! I love the large capacity, it&rsquo;s great for longer car trips when I&rsquo;m out running errands. I often use it when working from home too, keeps my tea hot until lunch time! It&rsquo;s super easy to clean, I hand wash it with a soft sponge. The plastic lid deformed, and the paint started scraping off the side of the mug from putting it into my vehicle&rsquo;s plastic cup holder. The lid is made from an inappropriate type of plastic if it can&rsquo;t stand up to hot tea. My hand actually got scalded by the hot tea, because the lid wouldn&rsquo;t stay on. Called customer regarding the issue and they sent a replacement. After a few weeks of use the same thing happened, the lid warped after several uses and will no longer stay screwed on. This is a safety issue! Someone could get seriously burned. I have bought tumbler in the past from David Tea and the quality of the lid on this one isn&rsquo;t up to par. Colour is pretty but I wish the outside was sparkled like the lid. It is still good. Keeps my drink hot for 4-5 hours, but I am used to old my David Tea travel mugs keeping liquids warm for 8 hours so I was surprised it didn't do better but not a deal breaker. I didn't experience the same lid melting other reviews did, but I also wait a few minutes before sealing my mug and prefer this straw style for iced tea. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars was that the rose gold finish scuffs really easily.
